AEGEE-Burgos

AEGEE-Burgos is one of the 200 locals that AEGEE has in Europe. AEGEE is one of Europe’s biggest interdisciplinary student organisations, striving for a democratic, diverse and borderless Europe. As a non-governmental, politically independent, and non-profit organisation, AEGEE is open to students and young people from all faculties and disciplines. Its members volunteer to organise activities and projects for local young people and from the nearly region and also for the rest of AEGEE members. AEGEE organises different events throughout the year in different locations across Europe, in order to gather young people which can interact throughdiscussion of social issues: - The Network Meeting. The event consists of discussions and training sessions about different topics connected to the work of AEGEE, and topics of interest for young Europeans, such as workshops on e.g. project management, public relations, fund raising, presentation skills, NGOs, the European level of AEGEE, making movies, presentations of past and upcoming projects in the Network, discussions concerning current youth issues e.g. youth unemployment, students’ mobility, Higher and Non-Formal Education. - Several Summer Universities. It’s an event that takes place during summer between one and four weeks in most of the cities that AEGEE is present. Understanding and exploring the multicultural dimension of the European continent, removing national borders, fighting for tolerance and creating openminded citizens are some of the reasons why 20 to 50 young Europeans from all over Europe come together in each Summer University to taste the diversity of multiculturalism. The activities carried out during a Summer University range from academic, such as classes to learn a foreign language, different courses on technical themes to multicultural activities. - In February 2015 we organised the second most important event in AEGEE called European Planning Meeting, where around 300 people from all Europe gathered in Burgos to discuss the situation between Russia and the European Union. Due to the activities, projects, congresses... developed by its members, the people involved in AEGEE-Burgos have Teamwork skills, they know how to work in international environments with multidisciplinary people, and they have experience in organising events, both small events (for 40 people like the Summer University which is organised in Burgos each summer) and huge events (like the European Planning Meeting for 300 participants).
