Culture, diversity and independence

Our group is an informal youth group made up of 12 young people aged 12 years to 16 years of age. The group are interested in exploring issues related to culture, diversity and independence. Scotland has recently participated in a referendum to decide if we should become an independent country. Although voters decided to remain in the UK the issue remains really topical and has increased young people's awareness of what being Scottish means. Young people aged 16 were also allowed to vote in the referendum which was a first. We would like to arrange a visit to another country so that the young people we are working with can learn more about different cultures and also about cultural identity particularly in smaller countries. We would be really interested in visiting somewhere in Europe particularly Spain.
