Kazbegi National Park Friends Association was founded on July 20, 2015. The association was set up "Support Programme for Protected Areas in the Caucasus - Georgia - (SPPA Georgia"), which is a 5-year program and is funded by the Georgian-German cooperation within the KFW Bank. The program is implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia and GFA Consulting Group in Georgia. The program is planned to expand the Kazbegi National Park (now is about 9000 ha, should be expanded to about 70 000 hectares), a support zone (surrounding communities and villages) socio-economic support, strengthen Kazbegi National Park Administration and develop tourist infrastructure. Aims: Strengthen and increase the efficiency of Kazbegi National Park Administration activities; Promotion Kazbegi National Park in the society; Support involvement of the local population in Kazbegi National Park and its support zone planning and management; Kazbegi region socio-economic development; "Regional Advisory Council - Kazbegi" in the functioning of its assistance for capacity building; Support local children and youth to participate in Kazbegi national park's activities.
