Over 35.000 students are studying at BEU which is a student-centered university. BEU which considers quality the primary principle in higher education, research and services offered to the society is the first choice of thousands of students every year. BEU offers associate, bachelor and graduate degrees in engineering, health sciences, liberal arts, economics and administrative sciences, educational sciences, theology, sports sciences and fine arts. In academic year BEU offers education in 231 departments and programs 60 of which offer bachelor, 75 graduate (48 Masters and 27 PhD) and 96 associate degrees. Along with education offered on campuses during daytime and evening on 10 campuses, there are distance education and non-thesis Masters programs. In terms of scientific research, BEU is the leading university in Western Black Sea region. Laboratories in all our units equipped with state-of-the-art technology serve both our students and researchers. BEU which has 30 research centers whose areas of activity vary from social sciences to science and health sciences provides significant contribution to science. Our University which has determined nanotechnology, diabetes and obesity and environment and energy as primary research areas in accordance with the needs of the region and the country has been making major investments in research. Our Science and Technology Application and Research Center where various analyses can be performed is the center with the most sophisticated hardware in the region. BEU places internationalization in the center in education and training and research. Our University is an international center of attraction where there are 1400 international students from 76 countries and 30 academic staff from 16 countries. Significant increases in the numbers of international students and academic staff recorded every year are proofs of BEU’s international character and quality of education. Along with offering high quality educational services at international level, our University considers serving the society in various areas an objective. BEU has Health Application and Research Center with 620 beds which is the health base of the region, Dentistry Application and Research Center, the only Oncology Hospital in the region, the first Obesity and Diabetes center belonging to the State with a separate building and the only semi-olympic indoor swimming pool in the city. Our University which considers quality processes a priority in all activities has successfully passed the evaluation of European University Association Institutional Evaluation Program (IEP) and obtained the right to use the IEP quality label for 5 years. BEU is a regional university which continues its steady growth without neglecting quality is a respected and prestigious higher education institution united with the society.
