ASSOCIAZIONE DIAGONAL ITALIA

The association, active since 1996, has carried out numerous initiatives related to its mission, both at a cultural and professional level with special regard, among others, to: youth cultures, the environment, fair trade tourism, volunteering, international cooperation, creation of enterprise. Diagonal stands out for having promoted real networks both in Italy and in countries such as: Spain, France, Malta, Hungary, Ecuador and Peru. Diagonal's registered office is in Trento (Trentino/Alto Adige- Sudtirol provinces), with operating offices and Catanzaro (Calabria region). The association has carried out a vast training activity in the sectors: cultural heritage, social and personal services, agriculture, communication. Furthermore, its members are engaged in activities related to the school world (school networks, quality, curricular integration, guidance and school-to-work transition, etc.). The members of the association have a multidisciplinary background and belong to all age groups. The collaborations initiated by Diagonal with other entities make it a body positioned in areas such as: non-profit and sustainable tourism, internal areas, international cooperation, active citizenship. It is precisely this last area that has become the central one today for Diagonal which has focused its attention on projects for the activation of civic participation and the growth of collective intelligence, as well as local community development. In this regard, we note the PYou project (www.pyou.org), which is characterized as a platform of face-to-face and virtual activities tending to create an incubator of collective participation and which is therefore based on the Community Empowerment method, i.e. aims to enhance geographical, thematic and sectoral groups and communities and to support them both through territorial animations and with the support of advanced virtual technologies in their actions as spontaneous or organized social movements and in order to increase the active presence of citizens and involve productive, associative and civic actors. The Diagonal APS association – Social Promotion Association has the purpose of carrying out activities of social utility towards the members and third parties, in the sectors of cultural exchange, social aggregation and solidarity and social innovation in full compliance with the freedom and dignity of the members and of those involved in the association's activities. Human and civil rights Diagonal ETS works to promote and protect human, civil and social rights, promote equal opportunities and participation initiatives, cultural growth and mutual aid. Diagonal intends to carry out its activity in the name of the protection of human, civil, social, political, consumer and user rights of the general interest activities referred to in this article as well as the promotion of the culture of legality, peace among peoples , of nonviolence. Community Promotion of interventions and services aimed at safeguarding and improving the conditions of the physical and social environment of the local communities as well as the prudent and rational use of natural resources for the purpose of sustainable and equal development. Diagonal's purpose is to carry out activities of public interest, carried out for the benefit of the community in the field of urban and rural transformation and social innovation, carried out through ethical information and through the participation of citizens. Research - Action Diagonal carries out applied research activities in relation to the challenges that the continuous transformation of communities and territories is facing, with attention to the use of digital tools as well as data and their visualization, also through innovation laboratories capable of developing and collecting proposals for new ideas and new products. Education and training Diagonal develops projects with educational and training objectives with particular reference to social innovation, the diffusion of new skills and the promotion of the care and regeneration of local common goods. Relationships and networks In relation to the topics of its interest, Diagonal creates, participates in and supports national and international networks in the logic of exchange and cooperation between territories, cultures and professionalism through the adoption of a network methodology among its members, implemented voluntarily and aimed at their growth and protection, as well as at the development and enrichment of the contexts of belonging of the members of the association and otherwise, always in any case by means of a community practice based on trust among the members.
