Italiani Senza Cittadinanza (Italians without Citizenship) is a grassroots organization dedicated since 2016 to advocating for the citizenship rights of individuals born or raised in Italy to immigrant parents. Founded in response to the institutional and systemic barriers and marginalization faced by not-recognized-by-law Italians, our mission is to push for legal recognition, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for all those who, despite their deep-rooted connections to Italy, remain excluded from full citizenship rights. Our core activities include: Advocacy and Public Policy: We work tirelessly to influence policy changes, aiming to modernize Italy's citizenship laws to reflect the diverse realities of its population. Through petitions, signatories, political (apartitical) engagement, and direct dialogue with lawmakers, we strive to make the voices of our community heard. Legal Support: Many individuals lack access to reliable legal guidance on citizenship issues. We provide assistance to help them navigate complex legal processes, ensuring they can exercise their rights and access the resources they need. Public Awareness and Education: By organizing workshops, conferences, and public events, we foster a greater understanding of the challenges faced by second-generation Italians. Our social media campaigns, storytelling initiatives, and collaborations with other rights-based organizations help keep the issue visible and relevant in the public eye. Community Building: Italiani Senza Cittadinanza is committed to creating a supportive network where individuals can connect, share experiences, and advocate for change together. Through mentorship programs, community meetings, and events, we empower individuals to become advocates for their own rights and the rights of others. We believe that all people who grow up in Italy, regardless of their parents’ origin, should have the right to call it their home in every sense. Italiani Senza Cittadinanza envisions an inclusive Italy where citizenship is accessible to all, fostering a sense of belonging and cohesion.
