CISS – Cooperazione Internazionale Sud-Sud Onlus is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that has been active since 1985 in various "Souths" of the world—among countries condemned to be merely sources of raw materials and cheap labor, sites of conflicts driven by the scramble for resources, but also in the peripheries of the wealthy world, where those excluded from the workforce, weakened by the lack of social services, the disabled, and foreigners are relegated. We work with grassroots communities, movements, associations, NGOs, and local authorities through international cooperation activities and local development initiatives, supporting marginalized sectors of the population, immigrants, and non-EU refugees in our territory. Equally important are awareness campaigns aimed at public opinion and the education of students and young people on development issues. In this context, CISS also operates as a sending organization for the European Voluntary Service.
