Kapnikos Stathmos Katerini

Kapnikos Stathmos Katerini is a community-based civil-society organisation promoting solidarity, sustainability and active citizenship out of Katerini in Northern Greece. Through a strong long-standing network of European partners and successful Erasmus exchanges, the organisation engages young people and volunteers in meaningful, hands-on initiatives that strengthen social cohesion and empower both the local and the wider European community. Its core projects include the Solidarity Christmas Village (SCV), the Ecological Garden (EG), the Social Pharmacy (SP), the Social Goods Distribution (SGD) programme, as well as the environmental action Giving a Day of My Summer to the Forest (Giving), running since 2007. All projects are built on the organisation’s working methods: solidarity as a guiding principle, volunteering as a driving force, and circular-economy practices as a strategic approach to using resources responsibly. Through this methodology, each initiative addresses real community needs while fostering learning, participation, and responsible citizenship. Since 2022, Kapnikos Stathmos has been actively involved in the European Solidarity Corps, hosting volunteers in impactful, inclusive, and educational activities. The organisation functions as an open hub where residents, volunteers, and international partners collaborate to promote inclusion, civic engagement, environmental responsibility, and a culture of mutual support.
