About Organization
Batavialand is located at a fitting place: by the Markermeer lake, in the easily accessible city of Lelystad, the capital of Flevoland. Batavialand has an indoor and outdoor location. Outside you will find the shipyard, with the famous replica East Indiaman the Batavia at the pier. The museum will surprise you with maritime exhibitions, presentations and activities. The building of historical ships at the yard attracted much attention of visitors from the beginning, so the yard bacame a tourist attraction. In addiction, the Yard became a learning and working experience project for young people and for re-integration of people. At the yard the main goal is reconstrution and preservation of Dutch 15th to 17th century ships. We work as much as possible according to the authentic and traditional contruction methods. Also Batavialand offers a wilde range of programmes for guided tours and acts as a conference centre and educational laboratory.
