Voluntary Service International (VSI) (www.vsi.ie) works to promote peace, social justice, sustainable development and intercultural understanding through volunteering abroad and in Ireland. VSI is the Irish branch of Service Civil International (SCI) a worldwide movement working for peace and international understanding through international voluntary service projects (www.sci.ngo). VSI works with young people, including young people with fewer opportunities, vulnerable and hard to reach young people including young people with disabilities, as well as the general youth population. We also work with people of all ages and backgrounds to volunteer with us and to support our programmes. VSI was founded in 1965 and since then has organized annual programmes of voluntary service (International Volunteer Projects, EVS, Youth Exchanges; local voluntary service, etc.) both internationally and in Ireland. VSI has over 200 members in Ireland and 2 full time staff, other volunteers and interns support our work. VSI is a registered charity in Ireland, a member of the National Youth Council of Ireland and Dochas, the Irish Association of Non-governmental development organizations.
