About Organization
Primary School De Vlechter is a school for children from 4-12 years. The school has a system of unit education. A Unit of 4-7 years pupils and a Unit of 8-12 years old. Different ages receive at the same time education. That is why the pupils learn from each other. The teacher is the coach of the pupils. This means that the teacher supports pupils in their own learning process as much as possible. A coach (teacher) does not automatically answer questions, but stimulates and supports pupils to find answers themselves. A coaching teacher therefore gives few answers, but asks many questions. In general with unit education there is more room for customization for each pupil and better explanation. Pupils learn more from each other, experience more autonomy and have more ownership of their own learning process. In addition, pupils learn to collaborate, use and present ICT. And they develop metacognitive skills, such as learning to learn. At primary school De Vlechter they have a nature garden and culture is relevant to the school. Through cultural education, children develop their talents and learn to understand the value of art. Art creates historical awareness and challenges pupils to develop a creative, inquisitive attitude. At different workshops, the pupils come into contact with all kinds of art disciplines such as music, dance, drama and film.
