Zveza prijateljev mladine Idrija (The Association of Friends of Youth Idrija)

Zveza prijateljev mladine Idrija (The Association of Friends of Youth Idrija) is a non-governmental, independent, humanitarian, voluntary and non-profit organization that works for the benefit of children, adolescents, parents and families. It has been operating since 1954. The basic objectives of the organization are to raise the quality of life of children, adolescents and families, to represent and promote their interests and needs and to protect their rights. One of our main goals is to provide quality leisure time for children of all ages, which we successfully achieve through the implementation of many leisure time and holiday activities. Children can take part in creative workshops, various sports activities and fun educational day trips. During the summer holidays we organize day care, a varied holiday programme and holidays at sea, which is also our most popular activity since we take over 100 children to the sea every year. We also take special focus on making the holidays available for children from underprivileged families for whom we provide funding and support. All our programmes are non-profit, we provide most of the activities to participants for free and we cover the costs with donations. Our main target group are younger children (up to age 15), but we are trying to extend our activities to young adults also. Our association consists of a president of association, two employees and an established network of volunteers who are constantly involved in our programmes. Office hours are from Monday to Friday from 8.00 till 15.00, while workshops and other events can also take place in the afternoons or on Saturdays and Sundays.
