The VALE Association was born in 1982 in the Lecrín Valley (Granada). In that moment the existing helplessness and the lack of coverage and institutional aid prompted a group of parents of children with intellectual disabilities to set up the Association to create a care center that did not exist in our region. Despite of the difficulty of the beginning and the big challenges assumed, thanks to the determination of parents, workers, partners and volunteers, as well as the help received from some municipalities we got to make a dream into reality. Since then our Association has been providing support uninterruptedly to people with intellectual disabilities throughout their life cycle. Currently, VALE has managed to consolidate itself as a key agent of social change in our province and we participate in the cultural, economic, social and institutional spheres of its area of action. VALE has its own and very defined idiosyncrasy based on values shared by its members. Its philosophy of inclusion and normalization has given it wide recognition.
