The Neue Wege Schule is an association that organizes elementary level schooling for about 30 children ages 6-10 (Schoolyear 1-4). It works on a relationship based model with elements of montessori and wild pedagogy, following the Austrian Core Curriculum for Elementary school while giving children and teachers the freedom to learn and teach based on their interests and their strengths. The classes are open and divided in 2 age groups: 6-8 and 8-10 years. Pupils have the possibility to deepen their knowledge and accelerate learning in areas they are interested in and at the same time, are supported to take longer in areas they have difficulty with and find more challenging. Learning is project based and weekly excursions for exposure to nature, Culture, History and Art are part of the curriculum. Every year starts with team building activities to create a cohesive community within the school. Target group is the local community as well as the Network of Free Schools in Austria.
