About Organization
A.S.D. Phoenix is a female volleyball club funded in 2014, and registered under the national public register of grassroots sport associations, managed by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI); A.S.D. Phoenix is also recognized by the national federation “Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV)” and by the national sport promotion body “Italian Sports Centre (CSI)”. We are based in the Town of Paese (approximately 22.000 inhabitants) in the North-East of Italy in Veneto Region, near Treviso and Venice. Every year more the 200 young athletes (girls 5-18 years old) are involved in our programmes, the A.S.D. Phoenix staff is composed by 5 licensed coaches and we involve over 10+ volunteers. A.S.D. Phoenix has 9 teams (Under 12, 13, 14, 16 and 18 years) and, annually all teams participate in national championships (FIPAV and/or CSI). The mission of the A.S.D. Phoenix is “to use volleyball to engage with young people” and, rather than just focusing on playing volleyball the A.S.D. Phoenix enhances the development of young people by providing them with opportunities to learn and develop as individuals by engaging them in our societal and educations programme, which run alongside the sporting activities and with direct involvement and active participation of parents. Our overall aim is to create “champions for life” more than “elite athletes”, and for these reasons our approach is mainly based on educational and societal aspects of volleyball and sport in general in order: - to promote the real values of sport (fair play, team-work, respect, etc.) - to encourage healthy lifestyle of young people and to enhance their individual and skills development; - to become EU active citizens and foster their active participation in society and public life. A.S.D. Phoenix has a long and wide experiences in collaborating with schools and municipalities in educational and societal programs for young people, through volleyball. We run specific programs and initiatives with primary and secondary schools at regional level, aimed at promoting sport, physical activities and healthy behaviours among young people. We also have a strong collaboration with Sport Area of the Municipality of Paese, as well as with regional committee of National Volleyball Federation for promotion of volley. A.S.D. Phoenix has organized several volleyball events, sport and recreational activities for local communities, especially targeted to young people (e.g. Open Days Volleyball, etc.). At international level we have developed good experiences and relationships especially with volleyball clubs from Croatia and Slovenia; in recent years we have also competed in numerous international youth tournament in women's volleyball organized in Croatia (Rijeka) and Slovenia (Novo Mesto). We run a special program of artistic gymnastics for girls; and, finally, we run a specific program for children called “relational and educational psychomotor” which is a spontaneous non-verbal and non-directive play activity that allows children to express themselves, to know their corporeity, to establish relationships with others in an imaginative and collaborative way through an intentionally designed path. The general objective is to support the development of the child through what are its specific growth tools: action, interaction and play All staff are licensed volleyball coaches, and are vastly experienced youth workers, working with young girls and boys, especially from disadvantaged groups. A.S.D. Phoenix usually involves more than 10 volunteers in our activities: - Carlo Urio, President, with past experiences in volleyball clubs; - Davide Mestriner, Vice-President and coordinator of the Youth Sector of the club; - Coaches: Luca D’Antiga (sport club director and coach Under 14 –16); Corrado Bernacchia (coach Under 13); Sara Testa (coach minivolley and Under 12); - Marco Visentin athletic trainer; - Ms. Sabrina Novello (artistic gymnastic instructor) and Ms. Monia Agnoletto (who works with kids 3-8 y.o. on physical activity).
