About Organization
The main purpose of cooperative Kavilia is implementing local participatory planning and collective production actions focusing on: a) promotion of solidarity in community social life, b) protection and improvement of natural and residential environment, c) promotion of independent cultural production and economic democracy. While adopting a design-perspective based on its role in improving people’s (social) life, Kavilia aims at the activation of collective identities in the production of self-reliance in local spaces, focusing on handicrafts and ‘learning-by-doing’ approaches. Kavilia is willing to support synergy with productive, artistic and socio-political initiatives in the realization of: 1) a ‘Mobile Arts & Crafts Workshop’ to implement collective design and craft production offering a combination of traditional techniques (e.g. wood-clay-fabric, natural building etc.) with modern technologies and tools (e.g. digital design, robotic applications) in planning and realization of collective community interventions, 2. a ‘Space for Social & Cultural Action’ to organize artistic and educational activities in direct or indirect relevance to its main activities and goals: fair-trade bazaars, seminars, performances (music, theater, street art etc.), awareness raising activities, integration actions for vulnerable and special social groups, international youth activities for the promotion of cultural diversity, economic, social and environmental sustainability.
