About Organization
Giovani Iddocca is a cultural association based in Laconi, a village of about 1,500 inhabitants in inland Sardinia, Italy. It works on rural regeneration, European youth mobility, permaculture design, Art and Creativity and community culture, with one long-term aim: to counter depopulation by making a small rural village a place where young people can learn, create and stay. The association is both a sending and a hosting organisation within Erasmus+. It regularly sends young people and youth workers to youth exchanges and training courses across Europe, and hosts international groups in Laconi. Recent projects include PermaWoodlands (a KA153 training course on permaculture and Miyawaki reforestation), LACE – Land Art for Community Engagement (a KA210-YOU small-scale partnership that produced an educational card game), empowHER Permaculture, Roots & Routes and the training course Speak Up, Stand Out. Its environmental work is practical and rooted in the territory. Through PermaWoodlands the association planted the first community-led Miyawaki forest in Sardinia, registered on the EU MapMyTree platform, followed by Parco Pacifico, a mini-forest created together with local schools and residents. Agroecology, permaculture and agroforestry run through its educational activities. Giovani Iddocca also runs a year-round cultural programme in Laconi: the festival Storie dal Vicolo, the diffuse art exhibition Ispera in the historic centre, film screenings and community events. The association works closely with Treballu Hub, the rural coliving and creative hub through which Laconi was recognised as an EU Startup Village. It is part of the CRAB Spaces network and the European Creative Hubs Network, and cooperates with partners in Greece, France, Portugal, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and Palestine. Giovani Iddocca is open to new partnerships in youth exchanges, training courses, small-scale and cooperation partnerships, particularly on sustainability, rural development, art and non-formal learning.
