About Organization
Teatro do Elefante (TdoE) is a cultural cooperative (non profit/non governmental organisation) based, since 1997, in Setúbal, Portugal. It’s one of the founding partners of ATINJ – Portuguese Association of Theatre for Children and Young People, and member of the Portuguese Network of Anna Lindh Foundation. Working on streets and informal spaces has always been one of the main priorities of the group, especially because it promotes democracy amongst publics, being reachable to all ages, nationalities and social strata. TdoE also develops educational and social projects with the aim of promoting awareness on civic and environmental matters, such as equality opportunities and multicultural exchange – directed, mainly to young people, in particular risk groups. The formation of publics as critical, adjusted, tolerant and active human beings is one of TdoE’s missions This is accomplished by performing different artistic expression in public space, working closely with youth, developing creativity and promoting good practices in life. At its regular practice, the structure pays special attention to the connection of the collective of artists that bases it and the community, in particular with children and youth. Over the nearly 16 years of activity we promoted several projects for and with children and young people, both at local and national and international dimension.
