ASANTE

Activities realized: In order to achieve our cause, we have proceeded with the following activities:  Publishing of a journal (free press) carrying the same name (Asante) and constructing of an Internet site www.asante.gr concerning subjects that relate to Africa, awarding special attention to its culture and civilization.  Co-organization of cultural activities and happenings focusing on African immigrants (intercultural festivals of Korydallos and Vironas).  Organization of tutoring seminars in order to provide to immigrants’ children the necessary support which will facilitate their entering in University education.  Individual and group meetings with immigrant youth, psychological and social support to immigrants’ children, concerning legal, health and educational issues.  Constant and consistent presence in the media (newspapers, magazines, TV channels) which permitted us to make the public aware of the intricate problems immigrants’ children face in their everyday lives, but also to establish a positive image of their presence in Greece.  Reaching out to African communities in Greece with the aim of forming and coordinating an “umbrella” organization of various communities, NGOs and other associations with specific interest in Africa.
