About Organization
LEADING CHANGE UGANDA (LCU) is non-governmental organization which started in January 2013 by a group of young people who wanted to create the change they want to see in the world among the children and the women. LEADING CHANGE UGANDA is inspired by the fact that the world should be a better place for everyone regardless of the sex, age, religion, colour and nationality. LEADING CHANGE UGANDA is a not for profit, nonpartisan women led non-governmental organization located in Nansana Town Council Wakiso district. LEADING CHANGE UGANDA strives to empower children, young women and youth to efficiently participate in their social economic development through trainings, access to education, information and basic needs so as to improve their standards of living. Many communities in Uganda irrespective of the people in such communities cannot access better education, information and basic needs. This is because majority of the people in these communities live below the poverty line and do stay in slums and villages. Hence the reason why education is at the forefront at LEADING CHANGE UGANDA. At LEADING CHANGE UGANDA, we do understand that education is one of the keys to getting people out of the debilitating and dehumanizing clutches of poverty. However, access to education, particularly for the children of the poorest of the poor is not always available thus provision of free education is of paramount importance to the people if our children in this part of the world are to be illiteracy free. LEADING CHANGE UGANDA is better equipped to pass on the knowledge and skills to the children, youth and young women that can enable them live better lives given that the youth and children are the future of tomorrow while the women are the mothers of the nation who bring life into this wonderful world. At LEADING CHANGE UGANDA, knowledge and Skills are passed through trainings such as entrepreneurship, financial management, consumerism, ICT and environment etc. The communities are also helped with basic needs such as clothes, education and food. We are majority youth led organization that allows enthusiastic young people to share their acquired skills with other youth that have not been able to acquire these skills. By passing these skills on we are holding hands together to fight and end early child marriages, high youth unemployment, youth and community illiteracy, poverty, environmental degradation, improved markets and livelihood.
