On 8th of September 2006, the Local Democracy Agency Georgia was opened in Kutaisi. LDA Georgia is the first such agency in the South Caucasus and the 11th Agency in the network of the Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA), which have been active in the Balkans for the last 12 years. ALDA and the LDAs are widely recognized as fundamental stakeholders in the stabilization and democratization process in South-Eastern Europe.
