Balikesir University

Balıkesir University is a non-profit oriented public university established in 1992. Currently it provides education/training, research and action-based activities in its 5 institutes, 12 faculties and 21 vocational colleges. It has more than 35 thousand students, over 1000 academic staff and 1170 administrative staff. The university regularly runs hundreds of training, research and action-based activities and projects funded by various national and international programs including Erasmus + Program of EC. Those activities and projects are based on quite large areas of interest ranging from vocational training of young people, social responsibility actions, adult education to youth work and social work. In addition to national students, Balikesir University provides study opportunities for international students too (mostly coming from European, central Asian and African countries). All students and staff members are offered to benefit from sportive utilities, conference center, university hospital, libraries, lunch hall, internet access, and cultural activities orderly organized by the university. Balikesir University strongly supports student/youth initiatives and 40 active student clubs while it also provides national and international mobility opportunities for both students and staff members and carries out many youth projects every year together with its international partners especially from European countries including UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and France. Furthermore, one of the most important elements of the University’s strategic plan is getting engaged with the needs of the society. In order to serve to this goal, the university organizes educational/training programs youth as well as for adult learners. The content of those educational/training programs is determined according to the demands of the public.
