About Organization
The Pobliża Foundation was established in 2016 in Wrocław by five people dealing with cultural, scientific and educational projects related to Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Germany and Ukraine. Mutual understanding between Poland and its neighbors and the countries located in its vicinity is the key not only to peaceful existence, cooperation and development in Central and Eastern Europe, but also has a purely human dimension. Getting to know people living nearby - their culture, history and opinions seems to be an obvious need of each of us. Often, however, this knowledge is based on a several-day trip to a neighboring country, stories from family and friends, or even just media reports. For this reason, the mission of the Foundation is to develop an exchange between Poland and its neighboring countries, which is based on three pillars: culture, science and education. The largest project implemented by the Foundation is the co-organization with the University of Wrocław of the International Congress of Lithuanians in Wrocław - the only such big meeting of people dealing with Lithuania outside the borders of the Republic of Lithuania.
