About Organization
Mezciema pamatskola is situated in the North East of Riga in a quiet residential area surrounded by the forest and some lakes. Riga is the capital of Latvia with a population more than 900.000. There are 850 students aged from 7 to 16 in our school. Academic staff consists of 50 teachers including social teachers and a psychologist. The school comprises students from various backgrounds. The curriculum subjects are Languages (Latvian, English, German ) Mathematics, Science, History, PE, Social Education, Arts, ICT. A few children have behavioral or learning problems and some children are with special needs. Folk dancing and singing have always been a significant part of Latvian cultural traditions. More than a half of our students participate in school folk dance groups and choirs. They successfully perform in traditional Students’ Song and Dance Festival of Latvia. Our school is located in a region who is proud of country’s history and traditions. The staff of our school is highly experienced and qualified. They are always willing to take part in new projects and work hard. Teachers of our school have a strong desire to improve and develop their educational approaches, so we are constantly carrying out different programs and activities that provide our school with the required expertise to participate in this project. Our school participated in two Comenius projects from 2004 to 2011 and three Erasmus + projects from 2017 to 2023, and all of them were interdisciplinary and the activities of the project were integrated in our curriculum into different areas.
