About Organization
Conkarma is an Italian no-profit association established in Upper Valdarno (Tuscany) in 1999. Since then, we have been dedicated to increasing awareness and promoting the valorization of social capital through a variety of cultural, educational, recreational, leisure, and physical activities. Our overarching goal is to prevent and combat educational poverty, advocate for minors’ rights, and ensure equal access to educational services. Since its inception, Conkarma has pursued the ambitious goal of becoming a leading presence in the socio-educational sector – a community hub for children, young people, and families. This commitment has propelled us to become the longest-lasting under-30 association in the area, with our membership growing from 106 in 2015 to over 300 in 2022. Over the years, our focus has been on crafting and implementing educational, training, and orientation projects, as well as aggregation and integration initiatives aimed at fostering multicultural exchange, disability inclusion, and the propagation of values such as solidarity, cooperation, acceptance, and respect for diversity and equal opportunities. Our initiatives have consistently elicited active participation and collaboration from families, individuals, Third Sector organizations, local authorities, and educational institutions at local, regional, and national levels. This collaborative effort has enhanced the efficacy of our interventions and facilitated their integration into a cohesive framework, thereby broadening their impact both qualitatively and quantitatively. In 2010, Conkarma underwent a significant transformation, changing its corporate name from a cultural association to a social promotion association. This legal transition culminated in 2018 with the inauguration of our first private space – a comprehensive educational reference center catering to childhood, adolescence, parenthood and the wider community. The core objective of Conkarma is to cultivate a resilient community in the area, focusing on facilitating access to knowledge, information, culture, avenues of self-expression, and personal development. We aspire to foster an inclusive and sustainable community that guarantees equal opportunities and collaborates with public and private educational entities in the region to support minors and families. This collaborative effort aims to promote biopsychosocial well-being and preventative measures, while reinforcing core values through a participatory, inclusive, shared, and measurable approach. Furthermore, Conkarma remains committed to promoting a culture of literacy and any form of arts, solidarity, volunteering, and sustainability. We offer consultancy services to the Third Sector and local authorities to develop policies and programs aimed at enriching social and cultural resources of the region and enhancing overall quality of life.
