About Organization
La Finestra was founded in 2014 on the initiative of a group of young students interested in improving the student environment. Since then, the Association has been active in the field of student representation, expanding its competences and activities over time. La Finestra - Liberi di Scegliere aims to create an inclusive community and to enhance the skills of individual members to improve school, university and local environment. In addition, the Association promotes collaboration between students through youth participation by organising events that foster interaction and the exchange of ideas to influence society towards positive change. In this context, the Association organises cultural events and training courses dedicated to the specific needs of young people, thus fostering youth cooperation. In short, its founding mission is to make young generations the protagonists of tomorrow by enhancing the potential of each member. The association has been promoting active participation in democratic processes since its foundation. To this end, it organises awareness-raising campaigns and voluntary activities focused on the civic involvement of young people, regardless of their origin or social background. The aim of the events and activities is therefore to transfer the desire to change the everyday reality to young people, providing them with the skills and the opportunity to carry out a process of personal growth. Moreover, for years the Association has been electing its representatives in student academic organs, carrying out political campaigns in youth representative institutions focused on improving the environments in which young people live every day, helping to resolve the problem of civic and political disaffection of the younger generations. Through these tools, the aim is to involve young people in the democratic and social life of their community. The Association operates in the 15-30 age group, always ensuring the involvement of a wide age range in a multicultural and diversified group in its activities. La Finestra has also always paid special attention to gender balance and the inclusion of young people and students with fewer opportunities. The diversity of its members in terms of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives has made it possible to foster mutual learning and a continuous exchange of knowledge among members. Moreover, many of its members study, from bachelor to PHD students, in the field of political science, sociology, law or other related disciplines that contribute to bringing an academic and theoretical perspective on youth political participation and democratic values. In this context, the Association continuously searches for new young people interested in its activities by organising events that address different topics, in order to reach as wide an audience as possible.
