About Organization
La Strada Cooperative was established in 2019, originating from an association focused on the social and productive reuse of the confiscated property known as "A. Landieri" in Pugliano di Teano. As a start-up under the NCO Consortium, La Strada collaborates in managing this property and has initiated several impactful activities since its inception. Key Activities: Agricultural Production: La Strada engages in the cultivation and commercialization of organic agricultural products, specifically chickpeas, hazelnuts, olives, and wheat. This initiative not only promotes local agriculture but also serves as a means to integrate disadvantaged individuals into the workforce. Support for Disadvantaged Individuals: The cooperative manages a living group for individuals with mental health issues and former substance users. This support is facilitated through the Health Budget model, which allows for personalized therapeutic paths that address the unique needs of each participant. Educational Programs: La Strada organizes "Campi E!State Liberi," educational and training camps aimed at promoting social justice, legality, and personal development. These camps serve as platforms for participants to learn and grow in a supportive environment. Social Farms: The cooperative operates educational and social farming initiatives, which provide practical training and skills development in agriculture for participants. Development of Therapeutic Rehabilitation Projects (PTRI): In 2019, La Strada began managing Individualized Therapeutic Rehabilitation Projects (PTRI), collaborating with local health services to support individuals dealing with mental health issues and substance dependency. These participants were accommodated at "Casa Michè," where they established a supportive living environment conducive to personal growth. Throughout 2020, La Strada strengthened its therapeutic activities, offering paths for four individuals in need. The cooperative maintained the living group model, fostering a sense of community among participants while also providing a secure environment that they could care for. Work opportunities in agriculture were intensified, especially involving the harvesting, sorting, and packaging of chickpeas. In 2021, La Strada continued to enhance its initiatives for the social and productive reuse of the confiscated property. Five individuals were integrated into various agricultural activities under the Health Budget-supported PTRI. Participants engaged in the organic cultivation of crops and the marketing of these products, including initiatives like “Facciamo un Pacco alla camorra,” which promotes goods from confiscated properties. These employment experiences allowed users to gain specific agricultural skills and shift from a position of dependency to one of empowerment and responsibility. Overall, La Strada’s multifaceted approach combines social agriculture, community support, and educational initiatives to foster rehabilitation and promote the social inclusion of marginalized individuals. By creating opportunities for personal and professional development, the cooperative significantly contributes to improving the quality of life and restoring dignity to its participants.
