About Organization
Plastic Free Odv Onlus is a non-profit volunteer organization established in 2019, committed to preventing plastic pollution and promoting environmental sustainability through awareness-raising and active civic engagement. The organization operates at national level through a wide and structured network of over 1,000 local coordinators across all Italian regions. Plastic Free engages communities by implementing continuous initiatives and thematic projects that actively involve citizens, young people, schools, businesses, and public authorities. Core activities include: Community-based clean-up actions in urban and natural environments, encouraging active participation and fostering a sense of responsibility among young people towards environmental protection. Environmental education and non-formal learning activities, particularly in schools, aimed at raising awareness on plastic pollution and promoting sustainable behaviours, often in cooperation with local institutions. Support to scientific research and knowledge dissemination on the impact of microplastics and nanoplastics on ecosystems and human health. Advocacy and institutional cooperation, driving local and national policies on waste reduction and environmental protection, through a network of over 141 municipalities committed to becoming Plastic Free.
