Consulta Giovanile Petralia Sottana

Our Association is an institution, born in December 2010, which has as its purpose the free associative form of popular participation in local administration. The association is made up of young residents in the town of Petralia Sottana, aged between 16 and 39 years. It aims to convey the needs of young people, developing a sense of belonging to their community in order to make Petralia Sottana a country to measure of young people.The Council represents young people who want to participate in the design, development and promotion of initiatives to prosperity and social progress. It participates in the definition of youth policy through the formation of opinions to be delivered to the City Council. The Youth Council together with the Local Administration promotes projects, research, meetings, debates and other activities. Active and develops initiatives to make better use of free time, interacts with youth groups existing in the territory. Promotes the connection between youth groups and local institutions. Also informs young people about initiatives in their favor at regional, national and international sphere and acquires information in the areas of youth interest (school, university, job, free-time, sports, volunteering, culture and entertainment, international mobility, military service, ambient, holidays and tourism). Our organisation already organised, together with GAM, a european project called "Giopolis" action 1.3 (hosting Young people coming from Spain), on the issue of youth unemployment and social inclusion. The Council is in cooperation with other associations, such as the Association Pro Loco “F.sco Tropea” that took part to a 1.1 youth in action project called "Stop&Go!".
