Club Soroptimist International Craiova

We are a member of Soroptimist international, with subsidiary branches in 123 countries and an approximate of 91.000 members. In Romania, Soroptimist International has 8 subsidiaries. We are a non-governamental organization for women that activate in different professional fields, available to fight for the rights of man, equality, development and, above all, international pace, understanding and friendship. The Soroptimist Internațional acts in the service of local, national and international communities and actively participates in taking decisions in different level of society. Soroptimist International is a mondial organization for women, that supports through different projects women’s' rights and status. As an NGO, with consultativ status in the United Nations Organisation, our members have direct access and represent a voice in the UN centers in New York, Geneva, Viena and Paris. SI was founded in 1921 in California, and the name of “soroptimism” comes from latin - “soror” and “optima” -, which translates as “best for women”. We have experience in implementing international cooperation projects and projects involving volunteers, working with disadvantaged groups.
