TUZLA ILCE MILLI EGITIM MUDURLUGU

Our Province, situated on the eastern border of İstanbul,is located at the Anatolian enterance of the city. The population of district getting consistently migration is 221.620.Archeological studies indicate that Tuzla has used as a settlement unit since the ancient period in the history of Tuzla. My Institution deals also with non-formal education, including training, education, guidance and application activities organized in addition to, or outside formal education for individuals who have never entered the formal education system, or individuals who are at a certain level of the formal education, or who have left the school for life long education. The great majority of the education all activities organized outside formal education institutions are carried out by our public training centre. The organisation’s expertise is mainly on vocational, social and cultural, and literacy courses for individuals at every age and educational level. Our organisation is focused on reforming the goals, programs and structures of the school system, giving emphasis to activities towards developing, extending and restructuring the non-school education and learning system in the context of life long education and shifting the focus of education from for maleducation to continuous education. Some courses we organise at our centre can be listed as: Social Integration, Cultural, Art and Sport Courses: Communication techniques, diction, sign language, communication at social and working life, family education, English (alllevels), literacy, folk dances, folk instruments, distance (open) highschool, university preparation courses, Turkish art and folk music, drama, photography, guitar, flute, taekwondo, karate, tennis, gym, painting, theatre, and any demanded courses. Vocational Courses: ICT, clothing, embroidery, carpetweaving, needlework, patch-work, handicrafts woodpainting, handicrafts clothpainting, model plane, handicrafts glassdecorating, glassblowing, central – heating and any demanded courses. At our institution we have learners aged between 18 and 50+ generally coming from socio-economically disadvantaged areas. We are situated in the area where most of the people are migrants. Our school is at one of the most deprived areas of the region with a high rate of unemployment and economic difficulties as a result of poor working conditions and low wages. Our Directorate is responsible for managing,directing,supervising and coordinating effectively and efficiently the education policies and strategic plans of MoE in accordance with legislation and programs. Our organization; in line with the objectives and basic principles of Turkish National Education system with the management approach based transparent, democratic and participatory team spirit to improve the quality of education and provide services in all areas of education for all individuals that we interact with the mission, innovative and sustainable activities; works with the vision of becoming the model continuously improving itself and proving environment and opportunity in order to raise the individuals as open-communication,sharing,entrepreneurs,taking responsibility,happy,healthy. We are working in cooperation and coordination with local municipality and other public institutions in Tuzla,the slogan is "Education City Tuzla". Our organization is continuing its education and training services with a total of 2389 staff, including 2.277 personnels in education-training department. Directorate has 14 sub-units.(Basic Education, Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Education, Religious Education, Special Education and Guidance, Lifelong Learning, Private Education Institutions, Information Technology and Education Technology, Strategy Development, Human Resources, Support, Construction and Real Estate , Assessment, Examinations, Higher Education and International Education). In the Directorate of the Central building, a district Director of Education, 4 Branch Managers,12 chefs, 14 disabled ,totally 70 staff are serving.In our district located in industrial zone,10 Vocational and Technical High Schools for the professional fields which have continously and dynamically developments (Health,Imam, Chemical, Electrical, Electronic, Marine, Tourism, Commerce, Computer, Mechanical, Turning Leveling etc.) have provide education in order to raise the needed skilled manpower in industry. Education and training are provided in various fields for those who drop out formal education and want to continue their education by Public Education Center and Vocational Training Centre. In our district the enrollment rates in basic education to 100%, and 77% in secondary education. There are 2103 classrooms totally. The number of students per classroom in pre-school 21, in 28 primary schools, 30 secondary schools and 31 in secondary schools . With The slogan “Education City Tuzla” ,In our schools linked to the Directorate, in the last three years, 18 projects were implemented internationally and 174 staff went abroad.We have implemented 10 local projects such as; Guest Teachers (Misafirim Öğretmenim), Gold Rain to The Stars(Yıldızlarımıza Altın Yağmuru), AÇEM etc. Now our goal is to develop our projects, to move it international dimension, to exchange best practices from Europe, transnational teacher training, teaching and learning activities taking; to provide high quality education,global competition for talent, to capture the global competitiveness of the education,to facilitate the recognition in a way compatible with European instruments the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired by formal, informal and non-formal training. As Our key staff have been involved in many local and EU project, the Project team consists of the staff who are experienced about the local and international projects, implementing the project activities and disseminating the project.Our aim is to establish strategic and long term partneship, to give a new horizon for the new generation. We would love to share our experiences with others to produce best practices in field of education.
