YOUNG ACTIVE EUROCITIZENS

Our informal group of young people was established in Athens, Greece in 2013. Our goal is to familiarise the youth with the idea of active citizenship in general, and European citizenship in particular, to promote mutual understanding between young people from different countries through intercultural dialogue, to motivate them to study and learn new languages in a lively context of interesting current topics (financial crisis, migratory crisis, dealing with issues concerning the protection of health and the environment). We also try to help young people enhance their skills and overcome potential learning difficulties using formal and non-formal education methods. We also intend to integrate in our group young people of different cultural or religious backgrounds in order to successfully fight against racism and xenophobia in order to become responsible and aware citizens and adopt positive behaviours. For these reasons we collaborate with NGOs, the local authorities, the municipality and schools.
