Aiforia is a small, yet international agency for sustainability based in Freiburg, Germany. We coordinate activities for the mainstreaming of good practices, the facilitation of know-how exchange and the development of local, regional and international projects and processes for sustainability. Furthermore, we provide comprehensive support for low resource consumption, responsible planning, effective projects, and just and thoughtful policies. Aiforia organises: - multi-partner projects to elaborate guidance and implement practices of sustainable management and lifestyles; - learning programmes for international groups of technicians, councillors and citizens; - sustainability summer schools in Freiburg as educational leave for German employees; - study visits on “Green City Freiburg” for groups from abroad; - excursions, workshops and other educational offers for local citizens including adults and youth Aiforia is official partner of Freiburgs Green City Office, commissioned by the city administration to present Freiburgs strategies of sustainable urban development in lectures and guided tours. Our areas of specific expertise are: sustainable urban development with participatory planning, urban-rural linkages, integrated mobility, and sustainable consumption (fairtrade, organic, zero waste, regional, DIY, energy-efficient etc.). And we practice what we preach: aiforia has introduced sustainable business and management practices, regarding our work routines (e.g. avoiding CO2, and other waste, flexible working times), as well as the office equipment and supplies (fair trade/ organic consumables, recycling of materials, green electricity, ethical bank account, etc.).
