Afghanistan Reform Team — Full Organizational Description From Vision to Action – From Action to Change Who We Are The Afghanistan Reform Team is a non-partisan civic movement founded in 2005 during a critical time of national rebuilding. With the support of the international community, a diverse group of Afghan youth—educators, civil servants, students, and community leaders—came together with a single shared purpose: to train a new generation of ethical, visionary, and competent leaders capable of reshaping Afghanistan’s future through peaceful and democratic means. We are not a political party. We are not aligned with warlords or factions. We are Afghans—some living inside the country, others in exile or diaspora—united by the belief that reform is not only possible but necessary for lasting peace and justice in Afghanistan. Our Origins In the wake of the early 2000s conflict, our founding members participated in intensive leadership training programs focused on democratic governance, human rights, civic education, conflict resolution, and community engagement. These initiatives, supported by international NGOs and diplomatic partners, became the cornerstone of our long-term commitment to reform, nonviolence, and grassroots empowerment. Over the past two decades, we’ve grown from a training initiative into a strategic reform movement with both national and international reach. Our Mission To nurture and mobilize a new generation of Afghan reformers equipped with the skills, integrity, and vision to lead their communities and institutions toward peace, democracy, and good governance. Our Vision We envision an Afghanistan where: The government serves all people—not special interests; Youth are empowered—not silenced; Women are equal participants in society—not sidelined; Corruption is dismantled—not tolerated; All ethnic and regional communities share a common, inclusive national identity. Our Core Values Integrity & Transparency Nonviolence & Dialogue Civic Responsibility Inclusivity & Equal Opportunity Justice & Accountability Strategic Focus Areas
