Mersin Yenişehir Municipality is a local government authority established under Municipal Law No. 5393. The Municipality’s main objective is to improve the quality of life of its residents, support sustainable development, and deliver public services effectively. With approximately 1,000 staff members, the Municipality provides essential services such as environmental cleaning, infrastructure development, road maintenance, and the management of parks and green areas. In addition, social support programs are implemented for women, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities; cultural activities are organized; and initiatives are carried out in the fields of environmental sustainability, waste management, and climate change mitigation. Through its R&D Unit, the Municipality develops projects targeting national and international funding opportunities.
