KOSOVA YOUNG LAWYERS (KYL) as a non-profit organization was founded on August 27, 2006 with an initiative of young lawyers of Kosova. In Statue of KYL are propound some of purposes, those with priority, in which we as KYL will be focused on. Most of the purposes that in the future will be undertaken by Kosova Young Lawyers will be aims for activities, and in short points we will present some as here under follows: o To promote co-operation with different Young Lawyers and Law Students organizations as well as different Universities around the world; o To create a joint union (Association) for all the Associations (unions) of the Young Lawyers of South East Europe; o To educate youngsters in the principles and purposes of international organizations and EU institutions; o To engage students/youth in international, national, regional, and local conferences, and to improve the knowledge and experience of members of the Center and the legal profession in dealing with European Law and International law. o To educate Kosovar citizens on legal systems; In order to fulfill its purpose(s), KYL will undertake, but will not be restricted to, the following activities: o Organize Public Forums in order to urge discussions between different professionals and professors especially in area of law. o Establish Exchange Programs between national and foreign Colleges and Universities. o To organize courses on “Street Law” Program for Kosovar citizens. o To organize and urge debates with public holders, especially in the field of International Law and European Law; o Educate ourselves and others in these areas of knowledge through discussions, research, publications, exchanges, and other appropriate ways; o To organize trainings, different courses of educational character for the Law students, political students and to advance the level of professional-practical work among the youngsters, o To create a web-page a TV-Program – “Court TV” for better information of legal professionals, law students of the Universities and Educational Institutions, in general, and o To organize social activities for the Young lawyers; The structure of KYL: 1. The Directing Board of Kosova Young Lawyers - KYL This is the highest governing body of the organization. It consists of all active members of the organization. The Directing Board has ultimate responsibility for the policies and financial affairs of the organization. 2. The Executive Board The Executive Board is responsible for the control and management of the affairs and property of the organization. The Executive Board is consisted of 4 (four) Members: 1. Chairperson, 2. Vice-Chairperson, 3. Secretary and 4. Treasurer. We also have currently the following Pillars/Sectors of the organization that deal with: - Public Relations - Research and Development - Liaison with Lawyers - European & International Law - Street Law Trainers - Stand by list of Lawyers - Legal Education 3. The Advisory Board – There is another important body of KYL, it is not governing one but all the time they play an important role in promoting our work and promoting or role in society. It is consisted by well known Law Profesors, old Lawyers, Judges and representatives of different institutions that work in the same field. In the moment we have 15 members: KYL is in process of preparing its web Portal: www.kyl-kos.org and we plan in the nearest future we will offer Legal Aid to citizens on matters they need. We will prepare Group of Legal Experts on different field to offer Legal Education to vulnerable groups and offer to them the basic knowledge of applicable laws in Kosovo. We are in negotiation with a local TV station for starting a Test Program of “Court TV sessions” this is also part of KYL program on Legal Education. KYL is part of the Consortium on “International Civil Society Forum on Conflicts” (INFOCON), with the aim promote a better understanding of how Civil Society Organisations representing Transnational Communities can work on preventing and resolving conflicts in Europe and worldwide. - http://www.infocon-project.org/
