At Malatya Science and Art Center we believe that we need to provide appropriate learning experiences for all students of all abilities. This policy provides guidance on how we meet the needs of our Gifted and Talented students. We aim to identify Gifted and Talented students in curriculum areas, provide challenge within the classroom and provide enrichment activities beyond the classroom. We aim to monitor students to ensure that they are achieving their potential and intervening where underachievement is identified. Our school was founded in 2005. It is located in the west part of Malatya and it takes nearly fifteen minutes to get city center by car. Since its foundation Malatya BILSEM has worked towards developing a unique identity by consolidating its various programs with a clear focus on: •Traditional Values •Academic Excellence •Excellence Programs in Music, Performing and Visual Arts •High Quality Teaching supported by Technology •International Education. At Malatya BILSEM, there are 32 teachers and 580 students.Since it is a special center students come for lessons in leisure times left from their school. They have to take some exams for talent and IQ tests (WNV) and get 130 points or over it to enter this school. Our school is project-based and student-centered. Project-based learning allows gifted students to capitalize on their abilities to understand “cause and effect relationships” in order to solve real-world problems, with authentic final products. These types of projects give students increased independence and the ability to study material at their own pace which is a base for Malatya BILSEM.
