Municipality of Klis

Klis municipality is type of a local government (municipality), established by law in 1993. It covers the area of 148,70 km2 and has 4801 residents. It consists of 14 specific settlements, each of the have their own history, tradition and significance. Its scope of work includes arranging settlements and habitation, social welfare, primary education, health care and care for children, consumer protection, municipal economy, traffic in its area, protection and improvement of the environment, civil protection, firefighting, and other jobs according to the law. Areas of specific expertise includes municipal economy, protection of environment and protection of persons which are socially excluded. The primary objective is development of local community which implies including socially sensitive persons in different educational programmes because we consider that without quality and knowledge our local municipality cannot move in the right direction in terms of developing. Also, the primary purpose is economic development and management in order to satisfy local population and other stakeholders. Klis municipality has so far encouraged employment through various projects and measures, most notably through activation of the unemployed persons in public works, maintenance and improvement of the community. The Municipality has, through Development strategy for , anticipated the needs of young people and involved/defined them in the priorities of programs and projects' realization. Two main strategic fields of development for Municipality of Klis are tourism and agriculture. The Municipality has founded a Business Incubator with an overall aim of developing the region by writing and implementing EU funded projects, educating and informing the youth of the Municipality on the opportunities created for them and further developing strategically partnerships with regions which have similar geographical and demographic characteristics. Municipality of Klis devotes particular attention to youth and inclusion of young people in work of the local community, aiming to develop Klis to be a great place for working and living. In these times of crisis, the primary target is investment in the entrepreneurship and opportunities for unemployed youth or those young people who have recently lost their jobs. Only investment in youth and education can bring positive results for this local community and beyond.
