In Belarus we are working in several directions: a) Our major activity revolves around issuing the almanac “Urban Tactics”. For every thematic issue of the almanac we gather a group of experts, journalists, urban activists that work on a specific topic. For example, the last almanac covered the following topics: : how to create an architectural bureau, the experience of the how the architectural project can reach an international level, experience of creating of community center in one of Belarusian cities and participative planning, work with the public spaces b) In cooperation with other organizations we have launched a school for urban activists. Topics of the lectures touch upon the issues of sustainable development of the city (through the green city concept), communication and life in the city (through the concept of public space) c) organization we are starting a project on mapping the public spaces. Through the project, we want to change the attitude of the authorities and the society to the public spaces, promote active participation of the citizens in urban life and increase the amount of spaces for interaction of the citizens. As a result, we will create a map of public spaces of Minsk and Belarus that will be available online. d) We are working on the change in legal interpretation of the public space in Belarus.
