The community center Jean Ferrat is an association which aims to maintain social bonds between people and strengthen intergenerational solidarity. Placing itself in the movement of popular education, the social center refers its action to its core values: respect for human dignity, solidarity, secularism, neutrality and diversity, participation and partnership. Our missions: - Animate, manage, coordinate and promote sociocultural events, - Welcome members and residents, giving them the opportunities to express themselves and to participate actively in the life of their city, - Organize any public events-and to enable people to invest in their free time through meaningful & educative activities, - Provide assistance, listening and orientation - Promote intercultural relationships & European citizenship Sectors of activity: - Leisure and education - 2 -> 11 years old - (academic accompaniment, extra-curricular workshops, Hip Hop, initiation to the circus arts, leisure centre on Wednesdays and school holidays) - Leisure and education - 11->17 years - (school accompaniment, extracurricular workshops, Hip Hop, introduction to the circus arts, African djembe and world music, soccer, Youth Committee, Youth Animation Center on Wednesdays and school holidays) Page 2 - Prevention and integration (reception 18-25 years, accompaniment to youth projects, accompaniment to employment, motocross and mechanics, carpentry, cultural evenings, soccer, mobility support) - Civic service, European projects and international solidarity, accompaniment of youth projects - Adult and seniors (workshops cooking, memory, creative leisure, sophrology, computer science, painting, Nordic walking, English courses) - Family-parenting (a Wednesday in family, accompaniment to the parental function, moms / grandmothers solidarity, family-time activities) The Social Centre Jean Ferrat is a crucial actor in local social development and education for citizenship. From 2007, the social center redefined the contours of its policy around youth accompaniment project. Our objective is to get young people to participate in an active approach to develop their voluntary commitment and mobility. After the realization of the first national projects, young people want to discover other cultures and expand the frontiers of their field participation. Our expertise: For four years the social center has initiated a real dynamic around European projects and Europe. Since 2010 ten international exchanges have been in place for almost 80 different youngsters. These projects include: - European exchange in Belgium around sports and culture, - European stay in Poland; ecology oriented project, - European French-German exchange with the French German Youth Office (OFAJ – Office Franco Allemand de la Jeunesse) around the French-German friendship and the importance of peace, - European Youth Health Forum with partners from Romania and Poland, - The Cyber Youth Connection project (INTERREG 2 SEAS), that aimed for cross-border exchanges about music, mechanics, cooking and intercultural communication, - The SMS project (Support Mobility Skills) focused on supporting Youth mobility and engagement (INTERREG 2 SEAS) - An international solidarity project with Morocco for the renovation of a school and the set-up of a library. - An international mobility project with the Quebec French Office for Youth (2017 project) - The PACE – Providing Access to Childcare & Employment - project (2016 – INTERREG 2 SEAS) - Welcoming & sending European Volunteers. The social center informs and accompanies at the same time the young people interested by the Civic Service, it also hosts volunteers (from twenty to the present).
