Democracy and Participation Association(Demokrasi ve Katilim Dernegi)

Starting its efforts in 2011, the Checks and Balances Network (CBN) was founded in 2014 as a non-partisan community of civil society organizations and citizens working to strengthen Turkey’s democracy. CBN represents 268 CSOs and 34.000 individuals from diverse political perspective, gender, lifestyle, background, ethnicity, faith, and geography. It has a central office in Ankara and local offices in 9 different regions of Turkey. CBN’s mission is to establish a strong system of checks through a new democratic constitution, reform of institutions, and greater participation, transparency and accountability. CBN has produced 12 reform proposals, 31 policy documents on diverse policy issues, and three major public campaigns. CBN has high motivation, strong execution capacity and previous project experience to accomplish the objectives of the call.
