Malaika Children Initiative is a youth-led, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian relief and development organization legally registered as a Community-Based Organization (Company No. NMC/CBO/460/22), which advocates to positively impact the lives of children and families, living with, at risk for, and affected by chronic conditions and rare illnesses in Uganda through Jesus Christ. MCI was established in 2020 at the peak of COVID-19 by Nassanga Shadiah to provide regular voluntary awareness and medical support for families affected by chronic diseases and rare illnesses with a focus on children. This work was done voluntarily by Shadiah with her friends. In 2022 MCI was registered as a local Community-Based Organization. MCI works closely in collaboration with other CBOs working within the same priority sectors. Since then the work has grown considerably, and MCI has expanded to include churches, schools, and more families in the communities of Wakiso and Ziroobwe, and focused within the areas of "Inclusive Education, Special Needs Education and Development of the Civil Society through following the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th, 17th United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
