Limerick Youth Service

Limerick Youth Service (LYS) is a community organisation established over 50 years ago. Our mission is ‘Connecting with young people and supporting them to reach their full potential'. We provide youth work services, education, training & employability programmes and volunteer opportunities and support. Our values place young people at the centre of all that we do, prioritise learning, creativity and innovation and embrace equality, inclusion, and diversity. Our youth work services deliver outcomes for young people with respect to their mental health and wellbeing, learning & development, safety and security, economic opportunity and active citizenship. We deliver accredited courses in areas such as catering, apprenticeship and bakery; work experience and internship opportunities. We facilitate volunteer-led youth clubs in rural and urban locations. In line with our Strategic Plan, in , LYS has been building relationships and strengthening collaboration with our partners across Europe. Since becoming accredited in 2021, we have facilitated over 10 youth exchange activities with partners in France, North Macedonia, Greece, Hungary and Romania, and 2 youth worker mobility activities. We are associate partners in a large-scale partnership and lead partners in a small scale partnership concerned with Virtual Reality youth work spaces. LYS is a registered charity and member of Youth Work Ireland. We are fully compliant with charity, youth and education sector standards. LYS is governed by a voluntary board which is responsible for the overall governance of the organisation.
