Il bastoncino verde

Il bastoncino verde (The little green stick) is an informal group of very young friends (aged between 13 and 17) and some adults who accompany them on a journey of discovery of the wonders of Nature and Ecological Education. The group's name is inspired by Tolstoy's pedagogy and a Russian legend that influenced his childhood and later his life: in the forest there is a magic green stick, whoever finds it can bring Peace to the world. Tolstoy, apart from being a great writer, pioneered a very innovative pedagogical school for the children of poor peasants, consistent also with his commitment to the struggle against serfdom. The pedagogy he pioneered and wrote about is not only very innovative for its time (around 1860) but still very innovative today. Based on dialogue and the equal relationship between teacher and students, it is an anti-authoritarian pedagogy, capable of recognising nature and the children themselves as teachers. The group conformed in early 2024 and is expanding as it is able to realise activities.
