DLRG-Jugend Bayern

The DLRG-Jugend Bayern is a German youth organisation that focuses on lifesaving. Children and young adults are trained as (rescue) swimmers, youth leaders, first aiders and lifesavers. As DLRG Youth, we are both an integral part of the overall association DLRG Bayern e.V. and, in our independence, a publicly recognized children’s and youth organization. The youth of the German Life Saving Association comprises all members of the German Life Saving Association up to and including the age of 26, as well as their elected representatives. In our organizational, societal, and international work, we are committed to the principles of democracy, humanity, solidarity, plurality, interculturality, holistic thinking, and mutual respect. Furthermore, we uphold children’s and human rights. We understand our association, DLRG Youth, as a form of self-organization by children, adolescents, and young adults. The primary and equally important objectives of DLRG Youth are: to save lives to contribute to the development of young people into self-determined, confident, and responsible individuals to actively and effectively represent the interests of children, adolescents, and young adults both within and outside the organization to raise awareness of societal issues and actively contribute to their solutions to ensure equal participation of children, adolescents, and young adults in their respective social environments Children and young people are trained as (life-saving) swimmers, youth leaders, first aiders, and lifeguards. The youth organization is led by a voluntary board that meets regularly for reporting and decision-making and represents the interests of children and young people within and outside the organization. Young people have diverse opportunities to acquire new skills and experiences and to actively participate in decision-making processes in areas of interest to them.
