Community Focus Ltd

Community Focus Ltd (CFL) is a not for profit Social Enterprise based in the Youth & Community sector in the UK. CFL was set up in early 2012 in order to work with grassroots communities, facilitate empowerment, provide a platform for community members to be heard and move towards social change. CFL members have a long track record working with economically and socially deprived communities. CFL members have previously been actively involved in the Youth & Community sector for over 15 years campaigning for youth facilities, provisions, helping marginalised groups and promoting community cohesion across international boundaries. We have helped people from economically and socially deprived backgrounds in our locality undertake and participate in international projects in Europe and beyond. Some of our previous facilitated and organised projects have involved mobility’s to Spain, Sweden, Paris, Portugal, Austria and Istanbul. We are trying to promote European identity and understanding between people from different backgrounds and cultures within the UK and beyond. Our work has helped promote community cohesion and sharing of knowledge across international boundaries. We aim to help community members become aware of their European citizenship and promote democracy through creating and facilitating opportunities for local people to visit parts of Europe within specific project remits as well as general cultural exchange opportunities. Our work is extremely valuable and has helped students, professionals, practitioners and volunteers broaden their horizons, share best practice in a European context and enhance their knowledge on other parts of the European landscape. Many people have developed higher levels of self esteem and confidence when participating in such activities. We are constantly working to create social change and empower community members, even though we have little resources we are still determined to facilitate or create opportunities for interaction on a European level where grassroots community members have a chance to enrich and enhance their lives, tastes, and cultural experiences.
