The Aim of our Project ; Being in charge of my organization, let me introduce it. Konya Metropolitan Municipality arranges a great many of cultural, artistic, social, instructive and sportive activities throughout Konya. KOMEK is One of the greatest institutions providing adult-oriented education services.It refers to KONYA Metropolitan Municipality Vocational Art and Vocational Training Courses(KOMEK) KOMEK activities are seen as a bridge between municipality and people in the city women especially housewives,that are out of labour market consists of the main target group of KOMEK. KOMEK courses are given in different branches.namely, Home Clothing,Jewelry Design,Wooden Painting,Clothing,Technique Painting with oily dye.Fabric Design,Embroidery by machine(Antep kind),Hairdressing and Caring,Cooking,Embroidery by Hand(ready materials) Wooden relief,Skirt-trousers,Porcelain(Çini),Embroidery by needle,Home accessories,Fantasy Clothing Ceramics Design Beside the training courses,there are also auxiliary activities of KOMEK,These are seminars,general exhibitions,sales. Courses are free of charge and financed by the municipality.Successfull participants have been given certificates that are approved by people’s Education Centers. We would like to revive Handicrafts arts in different branches at KOMEK. The Handicrafts Project is aimed at conserving traditional handicrafts and protecting them against extinction, as industrialisation poses a real threat to their preservation. Handicrafts represent an important economic activity that can create job opportunities for different segments in the community. They provide a tangible link with the past and the customs and traditions of the community. Handicrafts also stimulate the interest of visitors who come to see at exhibitons. In the process, the project aims to challenge stereotypical views of the community regarding the significance of traditional crafts and their economic value by raising awareness about the importance of handicrafts and encouraging people to learn and practise them to develop their skills. The Women at KOMEK specialise in creating beautiful handicrafts for sale. We need partners around Europe to work with us to keep traditional handicrafts live throughout the world and share them. The main aim of the project is to provide opportunities to learn about cultures and enable participants to meet, share ideas and come up with possible project proposals or build future cooperation.
