Youth in Free Initative

Youth in free Initiative Organization is founded on 2001, as local NGO, acting locally, thinking globally and working socially on human rights education, democratization and participation of young people in local governance and decision making. Our target group is: young people 18-30 years old (students, young girls/women, youth workers and young people social excluded). We are working in the Kukes region, situated in north east of Albania. From 2005, we have set up a youth center as an enabling setting for young people which is currently run by themselves. During 2009, we have established the Regional Human Rights network as well as the Human Rights Coordinative Unit as two inter operable instruments in achieving our organizational goal. Recently we are working on Monitoring local governance, promoting local democracy, good governance and accountability. We have contributed on gender equality a lot last years, working with UN Women and empowering women in politics. We have very good experiences on partnership projects with different international organisation. Our team is experienced as Trainers by Council of Europe, thus we have often organised residential courses mainly on Human Rights Education, Social inclusion etc. We have 130 young people active members, facilitating and coordinating different activities and participating in many campaigns we organize locally. Recently we are focused also on research, on social issues.
