Cyprus Youth Council

The Cyprus Youth Council as a vivid organization that represents the youngsters, has the duty to take a position for every issue they may face in their lives. So, through the democratic mechanisms of the Council’s constitution, the C.Y.C. adopts a position that states the common feeling among the Cyprus youth. Each member organization has the right to submit a policy paper before the annual General Assembly, and then the rest organizations see them and make their own suggestions. These papers pass through the voting procedure and after a productive dialogue and some amendments, we usually get a concrete policy paper that the Executive Secretariat has to promote it to the interested institutions and people ( e.g ministries, commissioners, etc) to push for the solution of the problems discussed. Aims: To promote the dialogue and communication among NGYOs To offer a representative framework for the member organizations, to develop initiatives, implement actions, exchange information and experiences and develop a dialogue in issues that involve youth To develop European Consciousness within the Cyprus youth To empower the participation of the young people in the political, social and cultural life and the active citizenship To promote the recognition of NGYOs and non-formal education from the wider public To promote the participation of youth in decision-making bodies on issues that involve them, and promote policies for youth according to the resolutions, decisions and suggestions of the U.N., the E.U. and the Council of Europe
