Llandudno Football in the Community was formed in 2010, and is affiliated to Llandudno Football Club, based at the club’s Maesdu Park ground. With the help of local funding partners including Cyfenter, Sport Wales, the FAW, Llandudno Town Council, Communities C2.0, Wales Co-Operative and Conwy Council, we set about transforming the club through the last eighteen months. From being simply a football club, Llandudno FITC was formed in order to take football into the Community by allowing anyone – irrespective of ability, to utilise the fantastic 3G pitch which was installed during the summer. The all weather pitch enables play to be continuous all year round as well as providing a flat and true surface on which to play. We have mens, ladies, boys and girls football, together with a six a side league taking place seven days and evenings a week, as well as running at least one football camp for both boys and girls during each school holiday period throughout the year. In addition to the pitch we have a superb new IT/ educational suite complete with a full complement of computers, we currently run courses engaging people back into employment and education. Football is an incredibly powerful engagement tool, and the immense local, national, and international popularity of the sport means that it can be utilised to not only entertain people, but bring about positive change to local, national and international communities. At LLFCITC we aim to utilise the power of football and have developed a number of initiatives that target a wide variety groups and tackle a number of local and national issues such as: 1.Address anti-social behaviour & crime by using positive sport activities to improve citizenship 2.Reduce racial tensions through a range of equality & diversity projects & programmes 3.Improve the health of citizens especially amongst the socially deprived and excluded groups 4.Improve educational attainment through using football to increase basic skills & attendance 5.Increase pathways to employment by using football clubs & other organisations to signpost the employment opportunities available 6.Improve the image & social responsibility of other related organisations by the expansion of community engagement programmes 7. Use the power of football to engage young members of the community with sport and exercise, education and society
